What If CBMW Did Not Exist?
CBMW Staff
December 1, 2008
Recently, at our 2008 ETS lunch, former executive director and current Council member of CBMW, Dr. Bruce Ware, pondered what the current evangelical landscape would be like had CBMW not come into existence. Who would be a singular voice proclaiming God's glorious design for men and women in the local church? Where would hundreds of free, online complementarian resources be available? What single repository would hold and distribute hundreds of sermons, articles and reviews on matters related to the important gender questions facing our homes, churches and culture? How unified would complementarians be?
Only God knows the answers to those questions. Yet, we are grateful that God not only saw fit to call CBMW into existence in 1987, but sustains its growth until today. If you agree that God's good design for men and women is worth proclaiming, we trust he will prompt you to support the work of CBMW in prayer and financial giving.
We intend, with God's help to surge forward in:
- championing the plain reading of biblical texts on gender;
- drawing attention to newsworthy items on gender from a Christian worldview;
- publishing a scholarly journal of studies, essays and reviews that engage the gender debate at the highest levels;
- equipping church leaders with resources to aid in their edification of the local congregation in matters of gender;
- seeking to reveal the links between God's design for gender and the gospel of Jesus Christ as well as the Trinity and the created order;
- supplying practical help to a variety of specific gender-related questions posed to us;
- linking arms with other truth-driven ministries in the Kingdom.
We are profoundly thankful for God's good design for manhood and womanhood. The vision the Bible portrays of humble, loving headship for men and wise, fearless submission for women continues to capture and compel us. We think it is a vision worth pursuing and worth supporting.
Would you join us in praying and giving to this important cause? Consult the Lord, and follow his leading. You can make a donation here.
We trust that the Lord will make this transaction a greater blessing for you the giver. Why? Because Christ said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive?" (Acts 20:35). That means in your giving, God will supply to you not only helpful resources through CBMW, but a greater sense of joy and hope that you have joined the holy cause of proclaiming His design for men and women on the earth.
We trust that through your prayers and gifts, CBMW will be serving the cause of biblical manhood and womanhood for as long God wills to sustain us (James 4:15).
To God's blessings upon you we add our thanks for your prayerful support.
