What Does it Mean for Complementarianism to be Biblical?

One of the reasons we call ourselves the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood is to highlight our belief that what we call complementarinism is taught and modeled clearly in the Scriptures. If we cannot show, in our writing and speaking and publishing, our view to be the very best reading of God's Word, then it should be rejected. However, if we can demonstrate that our view is the clearest and most straight-forward reading of the relevant texts of the Bible, then, on that ground alone, it should be adopted.
You shouldn't have to take our word for it. Our teaching must accord with what God inspired his revelatory spokesmen (Isaiah, Moses, John, Paul, et al) to write. We think our articles, books, journals and audio files accomplish this admirably. But you must be the judge.
To make that task easier, we've added three new Bible study features to our website. First is something called Key Texts. You may be new to the whole gender debate. Or you may be curious as to where we find important biblical evidence for our perspective. You can scroll down to the lower right-hand side of any page on our website and find a list of links which represent those biblical passages. Just reading those Bible texts is a helpful place to start.
Next, we've added something called RefTagger. It is a feature developed by the good people at Logos Bible Software. We want to give a public word of gratitude for their creating and sharing such a helpful tool. Basically it allows every passage of Scripture referred to on our website to be read while staying in the article in which it appears. For instance: suppose I want to reference John 3:16 in this article. RefTagger recognizes my use of a Bible verse and just by running your mouse cursor over the linked reference it pops up. This way, you can make sure we say what we mean and mean what we say from the Bible. It too resides at the lower right of our web pages. There you'll see how you can switch translations if you prefer. More translation options are soon to come.
Finally, we've added a Bible Search tool in the same location. There you'll be able to search for any passage or word that appears in the English Standard Version Bible. Our friends at Crossway Books are to be commended for developing and sharing this tool with us. The results won't move you on to a different website, but show up right here at ours. You can view or listen to the verses that you find.
The gender debate can be a very confusing topic. There are many voices clamoring for your attention. Some helpful and God-honoring; some not so much. God has made the answers to all questions of "life and godliness" plain in the pages of His Word (II Peter 1:3). Though the questions are complex, the answers are not. God means for you to see clearly your path forward, in all things (including understanding his design for gender) for this life and the life to come (Psalm 119:105).
Well done, CBMW webmaster Caleb Brown!
