Today we wrap up our look at the good talks available from the True Woman conference which took place last weekend in the Chicagoland area. The final two general session talks were given by Joni Tada and Nancy Leigh DeMoss.
Joni called her hearers to "yield to the chisel." She gave her talk by video link because severe pain prohibited her from traveling to the conference event. If anyone knows a life of pain mingled with robust faith in Jesus Christ, it's Joni Tada. She described believers as jewels of God, whom he polishes through experiences of suffering. She called women to daily personal obedience to God by prayer and meditation on the Scriptures as the means by which he transforms us from one degree of glory to another. She invited her hearers to submit to the quarry now, in order to enjoy the peace of the heavenly temple in the age to come.
In the final session, Nancy Leigh DeMoss, hostess of the conference, gave a powerful message that wrapped up the entire event. She taught from the book of Esther on the theme of being willing to die for the cause of Christ in this Christ-opposing culture. She revealed how two opposing kingdoms, that of self and that of God, rage against each other in the Book of Esther - and in our lives as well.
She concluded with a public reading of the True Woman Manifesto and an invitation for all present, and all who access the website, to affix their signature to it and endeavor with God's help, to live it out.
One of our CBMW staff members, Courtney Tarter, attended the entire conference and had this to say in response: "The long term benefit of this True Woman conference will be to fuel in all of us, the movement toward biblical womanhood, in our homes and churches and in the culture. The next generation of women will be raised up with these truths and that is very hopeful. Daughters will rise up and call their mothers blessed. As Mary Kassian said, God is raising up an army of women to live out biblical womanhood in the face of a culture that resists God's design for men and women. This event will also serve to tear down walls of feminism that have prevailed in our culture."
"Personally, I was very convicted to think more carefully and consciously fight sin in my heart. It made me want to live even more for God's glory. I was also very encouraged because I was able to attend with my Mom which was a great blessing. I got to worship Christ with her and thank her for her example. I was also encouraged by every speaker, especially meeting Susan Hunt and other women who had such strong desires to know Christ and make him known."
